Norfort’s Competitive Team Year End brought an amazing show to our families, where every athlete was not only able to demonstrate new skills but their coach/team efforts on providing us…
Once again Norfort’s Competitive Team traveled their way down to Red Deer, AB for another great invitational meet! Local Club, Exelta Gymnastics was celebrating their 15th anniversary for hosting the Exelta Cup competition.
As our athletes kicked us off on Friday February 9th. Our very own Rebekah Follet competing in the JO4 Level had one dynamic Vault! It improved from the last competition earning herself a Bronze medal. Rebekah also received a 5th on the uneven Bars and 8th All Around.
Kitt, Lexis and Andorra were also competing JO4 this past Exelta cup. Andorra’s first competition of the year was very well executed. She came home with a Bronze medal on Vault. Kitt improving her All Around score from the last competition had a great meet. Earning 4th on Vault 6th on Bars 8th on Beam, and 8th All Around! Lexis being sick prior to the competition still pushed through the whole competition. Leixs was able to take home a 6th place on the Beam apparatus. Keep up the hard work girls!

Way to go Melissa! Sarah had a good meet and scored her personal best thus far for her bar routine! She received a 6th place ribbon for Floor and a 8th place ribbon on Beam. Nice work Sarah! Myra Emblau really surprised herself with an 8th place finish on Bars. She was really proud of that accomplishment. Another 6th place ribbon on Floor. Way to go Myra! Kyla Francis did very well. She placed 2nd on Vault, 5th on Bars, 1st on Beam and 6th on Floor. Her Beam score of 9.366 that held out to be the 2nd highest out 66 girls. Woohoo! Kyla great efforts against such a strong field of girls. Kyla will hopefully use this momentum as she heads into the Alberta Winter Games this upcoming weekend. Myra and Kyla performed very well at the JO6 session.
In the level 8 session Saturday Morning, Camryn Boulton And Abby McCoy were up to compete! Starting on Beam which is always a trembling event to start on did not affect Camryn’s warm up. With slight overconfidence caused Camryn to fall placing her 5th on Beam. Camryn was also 5th on Floor. The bouncy floor was hard to control her acro skill set. On Vault there was redemption, with the best score in her category she brought home Gold. She continued to have success on Bars. With her beautiful lines and strong technic she took Bronze. Overall Boulton placed 5th! Abby with her explosive Vault earned her with a Bronze medal. Abby is also coming home with a 4th on Bars, 2nd on Beam with an electric performance, and 3rd on Floor! Her consistent performance earned her way to an overall 2nd All Around. Way to go Abby!
The Aspire girls competed on Saturday Afternoon. Let us just start off by saying a cool and confident Desiree showed up and rocked Beam earning a 5th place. Explosive Vaults landed her with a 6th place ribbon. She tallied to earn a 7th place on Bars and 5th on Floor. Consistency was the name of the game resulting in an 8th place All Around finish. Cassia was a little sore from some previous training but that did not stop her as she smashed it earning a colourful 7th place ribbon. She earned another ribbon placing 7th on floor after a very clean and high layout ½ and a stuck 3rd tumbling line to finish a great Floor routine. Be proud Cassia! Delaram performed very strong Vaults that got her a 3rd position out of her competition. On bars Delaram overcame nerves to show a good solid performance. She received a 7th place ribbon. Then the smiles exploded! Leading for most of the competition on beam, Delaram settled with a Silver medal draped around her neck! On floor Delaram flipped and dipped to a 5th place. All accumulating to a 4th place All Around. Keep up the good work Delaram!
In the level 9 session, Ava Lee MacLean, Avery McCoy and Ashley Ponak competed their invitational. All athletes started on beam. All athletes showed they improved not only technical, but mentally steps were made! The showed great mental control and a competitive mindset. Avery McCoy took the Silver with a strong routine. Her routine was aggressive in acro and showed an attacking mindset. Avery was 7th on Bars, 4th on Floor and 8th All Around. Keep the momentum going Avery! Ava-Lee was 7th on Beam, and MacLean flipped her Vault to Silver and on Bars she placed 6th. On Floor Ava’s outstanding presents and out going attitude earned her a Bronze medal. MacLean just missed the podium in the All Around as she received 4th place. Ashley improved technically and showed she was ready to compete. Ashley earned her great performance on Bars. With one fall on floor she still kept up her head high and set a pace to work hard on this event and be more ready for the next competition. Ashley was 5th on Beam, and 6th on Floor. Ashley also did not compete Vault. Due to instability on this event, Ponak is in process of getting better on the Vault apparatus.
The JO7’s competed Saturday evening. Lily was very thrilled for competing her backspring on Beam. Showing off her lines on Vault and Floor earned her a Bronze medal on both events. Grayson still pushing through with a sore knee earned herself 2nd on Beam, 3rd on Floor and 2nd All Around. Way to push through Grayson! Rylee showing off her improvements on Vault with her highest score of the year 8.625. All girls are taking something home from the competition to work and improve on! Amazing job ladies!
